This food drive is so important to over 300,000 people here on Long Island (LI) who are struggling with hunger who depend on the food from Island Harvest each year. People often forget to donate food during the late spring and summer– and donations of food drop dramatically. Kids are out of school in the summer and don’t have access to the school lunch program. With over 100,000 children who struggle with hunger – please consider helping us:
This food drive enables us to fill the shelves of food pantry’s all over LI so they are prepared for the summer increases they are expecting.Click to see a flyer which promotes this project – PLEASE SHARE IT - with friends, staff, colleagues, civic and community groups, intra net at your work, on Facebook, twitter, etc.
Just tell your friends - put out a can or a case of food or personal care items at their mailboxes on Saturday May 11 – so that their letter carrier can pick it up. The letter carriers then bring it to a donated warehouse where our volunteers (700 in number!!!) help Island Harvest to sort wrap and package the food – and get it out to the people who need it most.
Help us spread the news of this easy way to help– businesses, civics, colleagues, friends and family
On Facebook , twitter etc. please share.
Thank you!!!
